Schengen Medical Visa
The Schengen Zone Medical Visa is a short-term visa that allows foreign nationals to enter one or more Schengen countries for the purpose of receiving medical treatment. It is issued under the Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C) category and generally permits a stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. For treatments that require longer care, applicants must apply for a long-stay national visa (Type D) directly with the country where the medical treatment is arranged.
To qualify, applicants must provide proof of a genuine medical need supported by medical reports from their home country and a formal confirmation from a hospital or clinic within the Schengen state. This confirmation should include details of the treatment, duration, estimated costs, and confirmation that the facility is able and willing to provide the care. Applicants are also required to demonstrate that they have the financial means to cover all medical expenses, accommodation, and travel costs.
